Rhythms of Resilience: Home Rule Music Festival Returns for Its Triumphant Third Year!

Now in its third year, the Home Rule Music Festival celebrates the best of Washington, D.C.’s music and culture. The main event is an all-day outdoor, family-friendly music festival that includes a Youth Village with kid-focused activities and games, a Record Fair with local shops and vendors, superb food trucks and drink vendors, and of course terrific live jazz and go-go music.

Idris Ackamoor, Zulu

IDRIS ACKAMOOR is an alto and tenor saxophonist, composer, pianist, percussionist, actor, and tap dancer. He is the Founder and artistic Director of the legendary jazz and world music ensemble Idris Ackamoor ☥ The Pyramids.

Doug Carn

Doug Carn is an American jazz musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and producer. He is best known for four recordings on the Black Jazz label between 1971 and 1973, including Infant Eyes, Spirit of the New Land, and Revelation, with his then-wife Jean Carn on vocals.

Vanessa Rubin

Revered as both a torchbearer and a storyteller, jazz vocalist Vanessa Rubin possesses a voice hailed for crystalline clarity, hearth-like warmth and playful lioness sass.
